Their project, in collaboration with Dr. Amanda Lauer, investigates neural mechanisms that protect an organism’s hearing from noise damage. This cross-disciplinary research, involving bats and mice, aims to uncover adaptive strategies that could inform approaches to prevent hearing loss in humans. This research will advance our understanding of sensory resilience in the face of environmental changes and is one of the projects funded under the Neurobiology in Changing Ecosystems (NICE) initiative, a joint effort by The Kavli Foundation and the National Science Foundation.
